About this game

Tokyo Mirage Sessions #FE Encore follows aspiring performers who defend modern Tokyo with the help of Fire Emblem heroes. Their entertainment careers include singing and acting, while their other life involves dungeon exploration and turn-based battles. Hitting a weakness starts Session attacks in which allies follow up, so choosing an opening move also means considering the chain it can create. Enemies can exploit your weaknesses in the same way. Creating stronger Carnage weapons opens access to new skills, linking preparation to your combat options. Encore's added story also lets supporting characters participate in Sessions as it progresses. For players who want shorter battle sequences, the Quick Session option condenses the linked-attack animations.

Collected in series

Fire Emblem’s main tactical RPGs combine turn-based battles with the growth and relationships of a fantasy army. Choosing where each ally stands matters as much as deciding whom to train, and getting to know the cast gives those battlefield decisions a personal edge.

Shin Megami Tensei is Atlus’s RPG series about supernatural upheaval and competing visions of the future. Demon negotiation and fusion shape your party, while exploration, difficult choices and weakness-based battles drive its mainline adventures.

8.1 / 10Nintendo Switch

For players who enjoy building attack chains within a theatrical RPG setting.

Sessions can make an opening attack feel like a team-planning decision rather than an isolated hit. Weapon-based skill growth gives preparation a role in that process, while the performers' double lives should appeal most to players interested in an entertainment-industry setting.

Strengths

  • Weakness-triggered follow-ups can reward attention to how the party's attacks connect.
  • Weapon development gives skill-focused players a concrete preparation goal.

Who it is for: Players who like planning turn-based combinations and are interested in a cast balancing performance with supernatural battles.

Play notes: This edition builds on the Western Wii U version, which matters to players expecting the original Japanese Wii U edition as its basis.
