About this game
Super Mario Galaxy 2 sends Mario between worlds aboard Starship Mario. On the planets themselves, gravity lets you run around curved surfaces and even upside down. Collecting Power Stars takes the voyage farther into the galaxies, linking each stretch of platforming to the next destination. Yoshi adds a different set of actions: ride him and aim his tongue at fruit or enemies. Power-ups also change how you cross a stage, with Cloud Mario creating platforms and Rock Mario rolling through obstacles. The Nintendo Switch version adds automatic saving, a storybook about twin Lumas and Assist Mode, which increases Mario's health and returns him after a fall.

A promising fit for players who enjoy adapting movement to unusual terrain.
Gravity and power-ups give platforming different spatial problems to solve, from following a planet's curve to making a cloud foothold. Power Star progression provides a concrete reason to tackle those challenges, while Assist Mode offers a less punishing way to practise.
Strengths
- Yoshi and Mario's transformations support distinct approaches to obstacles.
- Assist Mode's fall recovery can make experimentation more approachable.
Who it is for: Players interested in spatial platforming, changing movement abilities and a supported way to learn unfamiliar jumps.
