About this game
Super Mario Galaxy turns planetary gravity into part of Mario’s route through a stage. Run around a small world until you are upside down, attack enemies with a spin and activate mechanisms as you search for Power Stars. Those stars restore the observatory’s power and extend your reach into the galaxy. Different environments and transformations change how you approach the journey. Bee Mario can briefly fly, while Boo Mario slips through barriers such as fences. This Switch edition also offers Assist Mode, which increases Mario’s health and returns him after a fall, plus automatic saving and the option to skip previously watched cutscenes.
Collected in series
Super Mario is Nintendo’s platform-adventure series, first launched in 1985. Mario and his friends leap through the Mushroom Kingdom and beyond, exploring colorful worlds and tackling playful challenges. Mushrooms, coins, pipes and surprising power-ups make every adventure full of discoveries.

Nintendo SwitchAI review
AI reviews are subjective assessments, not player ratings. See each review for its evidence and limitations.Published date:
A strong conceptual fit for players who enjoy rethinking familiar jumps on unusual terrain.
Curved planets and transformations can turn route-reading into the main pleasure of movement. Power Stars give that experimentation a continuing purpose by restoring the observatory and expanding where Mario can travel.
Strengths
- Gravity and transformation abilities provide different ways to think through an obstacle.
- Assist Mode offers a gentler way to approach the same planetary adventure.
Who it is for: Players who enjoy spatial platforming, collectible goals and adapting movement to changing environments.
Play notes: Shared Joy-Con play assigns the second player a helper role; two-player play is listed for TV and tabletop modes, not handheld mode.
