About this game
Fire Emblem Engage puts you in command of an army fighting across grid-based battlefields. Choose which character attacks and which weapon to use: an advantageous weapon matchup can inflict Break, stopping an enemy counterattack. Allies gain strength through experience, while Emblem Rings provide another way to shape their capabilities. Assign a ring to borrow its hero's powers, then Engage to combine with that Emblem and use special attacks. Your army develops through both combat experience and stronger bonds with Emblems, which unlock additional abilities. Between missions, return to the Somniel to spend time with allies and prepare for the next battle. Casual and Classic modes also change what defeat means for individual characters: fallen allies return after a Casual battle, while Classic makes their loss permanent.
Collected in series
Fire Emblem’s main tactical RPGs combine turn-based battles with the growth and relationships of a fantasy army. Choosing where each ally stands matters as much as deciding whom to train, and getting to know the cast gives those battlefield decisions a personal edge.

Nintendo SwitchAI review
AI reviews are subjective assessments, not player ratings. See each review for its evidence and limitations.Published date:
A promising fit for tacticians who enjoy building character-and-ability combinations.
Emblem assignments and weapon advantages give planning several connected layers: who receives a power matters alongside who attacks. Players who enjoy developing a squad may also value the link between battlefield experience, Emblem bonds and preparation at the Somniel.
Strengths
- Ring assignments offer room to experiment with how individual allies contribute to a battle.
- Break can reward planning an attack sequence around weapon advantages.
Who it is for: Players who enjoy deliberate turn-based decisions and developing allies over successive battles.
Play notes: Classic Mode makes fallen allies' losses permanent; Casual Mode restores them after battle.
