About this game
Train your units, arrange them on a grid and take turns fighting through Laharl’s adventure. Positioning matters beyond reaching an enemy: the right formation enables a team attack, while Geo Symbols and colored panels can introduce helpful or harmful effects. Reading those conditions gives you decisions to make before committing an attack. Growth extends to equipment. Clearing a floor in the Item World raises the item’s level, but deeper floors bring stronger enemies. Character training can continue up to level 9999, giving players who enjoy building a stronger squad a substantial long-term goal. This HD return of the original Disgaea joins tactical positioning with repeated preparation and training.
Collected in series
Disgaea turns the Netherworld into a stage for comic demon stories and squad-based strategy RPG battles. Positioning allies, combining attacks and developing characters and equipment all matter, with lifting and throwing opening up playful ways to rearrange the battlefield.

Nintendo SwitchAI review
AI reviews are subjective assessments, not player ratings. See each review for its evidence and limitations.Published date:
A good match for players who want tactical positioning and extensive squad building in the same RPG.
Team formations and panel effects give positioning a concrete purpose. Equipment growth also turns further battles into a preparation project; enjoying that repeated investment matters as much as enjoying an individual fight.
Strengths
- Team attacks reward arranging units with a plan.
- Equipment training gives extra battles a purpose beyond character levels.
Weaknesses
- A strong emphasis on leveling may lose players who prefer short RPGs with little repeated training.
Who it is for: Players who like turn-based planning, experimenting with formations and steadily strengthening a squad.
Play notes: Character growth relies on defeating enemies; consider whether you enjoy repeated training.
