About this game

Mario Party Superstars combines a board-game contest with classic minigames. Roll the dice, move between spaces and compete to finish with the most Stars. The five boards bring their own events into that race: on Peach's Birthday Cake, planted Piranha Plants can take opponents' coins or Stars, while Space Land's Bowser Coin Beam removes every coin from anyone it hits. The collection includes one hundred minigames, all played with button controls. Mt. Minigames offers seven courses for focusing on these challenges, giving you an alternative to the board contest. Up to four players can share one system offline, and all modes support online multiplayer with Nintendo Switch Online. Stickers provide another way to react to fellow players during the competition.

8.6 / 10Nintendo Switch

Party competition for groups that enjoy board events as much as direct minigame challenges.

The Star race combines dice movement with events that can take resources from opponents, so groups should expect the board to influence their plans. Mt. Minigames offers another focus for players who would rather spend the session on the individual challenges.

Strengths

  • Separate minigame courses can accommodate a group that wants challenges without committing to the board contest.
  • Button controls provide a common input approach across the minigame collection.

Weaknesses

  • Players who want minigame skill alone to determine the board winner may dislike the influence of dice and resource-stealing events.

Who it is for: Friends and families who enjoy playful competition and accept that board events can affect a Star race.

Play notes: Offline group play needs a controller for each participant; online play requires a paid Nintendo Switch Online membership.
