About this game

Noah and Mio come from opposing nations, but their journey takes them across the same world of plains, lakes, forests and seas. When an enemy closes in, combat unfolds in real time: characters attack automatically, while you choose Arts and move into positions that improve their effects. You can switch the character under your control during a fight. Party development revolves around Classes and the Arts they provide. Completing Hero Quests opens additional Classes, and mastering a Class lets its learned Arts contribute to new combinations. Alongside those individual builds, specific pairs can Interlink into an Ouroboros. Changing your party's Classes and choosing when to use these paired forms are central parts of directing the group.

Collected in series

Xenoblade Chronicles is a role-playing series of immense landscapes, close-knit parties and conflicts that reach beyond what its heroes first understand. You explore unfamiliar worlds and coordinate real-time battles through roles, positioning and Arts. Long journeys give the companions time to grow, while the scenery keeps suggesting another place to visit.

9.2 / 10Nintendo Switch

A promising fit for players who enjoy expressing party strategy through both character builds and battlefield positioning.

Class changes and positional Arts suggest a combat system where preparation and active decisions can reinforce each other. Hero Quests also connect meeting allies with expanding your tactical options, which should appeal to players who want character encounters to matter mechanically.

Strengths

  • Class-specific Arts give party experimentation a concrete purpose beyond changing equipment.
  • Paired Ouroboros transformations could give cooperation a distinct identity within individual character builds.

Weaknesses

  • If you prefer little party preparation, managing Classes and Art combinations may demand more attention than you want.

Who it is for: Players drawn to exploring varied landscapes while developing and revising a party's combat roles.
