About this game

The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild puts you in control of Link's journey through Hyrule. Climb to a vantage point, choose somewhere to investigate and glide toward it. Shrine trials offer puzzles and rewards, while encounters with monsters allow you to consider terrain and tools as well as direct attacks. Preparation matters alongside exploration. Weapons wear out, so replacements become part of managing your equipment; prepared dishes heal Link or boost his attributes. Rain can make a climbing route slippery and extinguish fire, changing how you approach the surroundings. You can follow your own route through these activities, with the Adventure Log keeping track of quests as you explore.

9.4 / 10Nintendo Switch

Suited to curious explorers who enjoy adapting plans to their surroundings.

Climbing and gliding can turn a visible destination into a route you work out yourself. Weather, wearing weapons and terrain-based combat can then make preparation and improvisation as relevant as reaching that destination.

Strengths

  • Climbing and gliding can give exploration a practical question: how will you reach the place you noticed?
  • Terrain and tools offer reasons to reconsider a fight rather than rely on direct attacks alone.

Weaknesses

  • Weapon wear may frustrate players who prefer keeping one favorite weapon in continuous use.

Who it is for: Players who enjoy choosing routes, solving puzzles and adjusting equipment or tactics when circumstances change.

Play notes: Rain makes cliffs slippery and can put out fire, so an intended route or setup may need changing.
