About this game

Trials of Mana remakes Seiken Densetsu 3 as a 3D action RPG. Choose three heroes from six protagonists to form your party. Your lead character and companions influence how their intertwined story develops, making the initial lineup a narrative decision as well as a combat choice. In battle, jump, launch aerial attacks and move around enemies to attack from another angle. Leveling supplies Training Points for character upgrades, while Light and Dark class paths open different attacks and magic options. Progression therefore includes deciding how to develop the heroes you selected. Character voices and newly arranged music accompany the adventure, and an additional episode continues the journey after the ending.

Likely to appeal to players who enjoy shaping a small party while taking direct action in combat.

Party selection and branching classes can make character development feel personal, because the same choices also influence the story or available actions. Jumping and flanking add a positional element for players who want more than menu-based build planning.

Strengths

  • Choosing the protagonist and companions can connect investment in a party to the narrative being followed.
  • Class branches and Training Point upgrades offer complementary ways to plan character growth.

Weaknesses

  • The single-player format does not suit players hoping to control the party cooperatively.

Who it is for: Players who like character-led fantasy adventures, deliberate party development and combat involving movement around enemies.

Play notes: Because the lineup affects the story, selecting only for combat roles may leave a personally interesting character's perspective outside the chosen party.

Class development and a post-ending episode provide distinct progression stages, without establishing how long or evenly paced those stages feel.
