About this game
Legend of Mana begins a journey toward the Mana Tree with an empty world map. As you acquire artifacts, you place them to create locations such as towns and dungeons, opening up the places and stories you will explore. You then travel through Fa'Diel, fight monsters in action RPG combat and complete quests, with world construction tied directly to story progression. The HD remaster redraws backgrounds and parts of the interface while retaining the game's storybook-style presentation. You can choose original or rearranged music and turn off enemy encounters when exploring. Ring Ring Land is also included as a separate minigame. The adventure thus combines building the map with exploring the locations it brings into existence.
Collected in series
Mana builds fantasy adventures around the power of mana, a legendary sword and encounters with unusual companions. Its action RPGs combine weapon-based battles with colourful worlds, while individual games find different ways to shape your journey.

AI reviews are subjective assessments, not player ratings. See each review for its evidence and limitations.Published date:
An inviting premise for players who want constructing the world to be part of their RPG journey.
Artifact placement could make discovering a new location feel connected to a decision you made on the map. The encounter toggle offers more control over exploration, while the soundtrack choice may appeal to players interested in either the original music or its rearrangement.
Strengths
- Creating locations through artifacts could give exploration a stronger sense of authorship.
- Selectable music provides a direct way to choose between the original and rearranged presentation.
Weaknesses
- If you prefer following a ready-made route, deciding where to place artifacts may feel like additional planning.
Who it is for: Players drawn to map construction, quest-based exploration and storybook-style action RPGs.
