About this game

The Legend of Zelda: Link’s Awakening sends Link across Koholint Island in search of a way home and a means to awaken the Wind Fish. Dungeons unfold room by room through puzzles, traps and monster battles. Equipment expands where you can explore; bombs, for example, break obstacles and fragile walls that stand in the way. This reimagined adventure also turns dungeon rooms into building pieces. Completing dungeons and minigames earns Chamber Stones, which let you arrange rooms on objective-based grids and attempt the resulting Chamber Dungeons. Alongside this construction activity, the Switch version introduces new soundtrack arrangements and the ability to review key conversations, keeping the island quest and its clues close at hand.

Collected in series

8.7 / 10Nintendo Switch

A likely fit for players who enjoy reading dungeon spaces and reconsidering routes as their tools expand.

Equipment-based access can make new items a reason to rethink the island's obstacles. Chamber Dungeons may extend that interest from solving room layouts to arranging and testing them.

Strengths

  • New equipment can connect discoveries to concrete changes in where exploration leads.
  • Arranging and attempting dungeon rooms can offer another perspective on their connections.

Who it is for: Players who like environmental puzzles, item-based route discovery and room-arrangement challenges.

Play notes: Players planning a single sideways Joy-Con setup should account for its unsupported status for this game.
