About this game
TUNIC follows a small fox through forests, ruins and catacombs seen from an isometric viewpoint. Explore the connected landscape, discover helpful treasures and items, and confront monsters and bosses. Combat gives you several responses to an enemy: dodge an attack, block it, attempt a parry or strike back. The instruction manual is also something to find within the adventure. Its missing pages gradually supply maps, tips and special techniques, alongside full-colour illustrations. Collecting those pages accompanies the search for hidden puzzles and other secrets. Exploration therefore includes both investigating the land itself and assembling the information that describes it, while combat asks you to put your defensive and attacking actions to use.

Nintendo SwitchAI review
AI reviews are subjective assessments, not player ratings. See each review for its evidence and limitations.Published date:
A strong conceptual fit for players who enjoy learning a world as well as fighting through it.
Collectible manual pages can turn information itself into a discovery, particularly for players who enjoy connecting clues. Dodging, blocking and parrying suggest a separate appeal for those who like choosing a defensive response before attacking.
Strengths
- Maps and techniques found as manual pages could make close observation feel purposeful.
- Several defensive actions offer an appealing premise for players who enjoy responding to enemy attacks.
Weaknesses
- Players who prefer essential guidance presented together may find a scattered manual less comfortable.
Who it is for: Curious explorers who enjoy hidden puzzles and are also interested in action combat with defensive choices.
Play notes: If assembling guidance is part of the appeal, discovering manual pages independently may matter as much as collecting useful items.
