About this game
Sonic Origins Plus brings together Sonic the Hedgehog, Sonic CD, Sonic the Hedgehog 2 and Sonic 3 & Knuckles. Run and jump through their Acts toward the goal, collecting rings that absorb a damaging hit before scattering. The remastered core games retain their pixel-art graphics. Choose Anniversary Mode for unlimited attempts or Classic Mode for rules that end the game when lives run out. Plus makes Amy playable across the core games and adds Knuckles to Sonic CD, providing different character choices for those adventures. It also includes a separate selection of Game Gear titles, which can be saved and loaded through their pause menu.
Collected in series
Sonic the Hedgehog is SEGA’s action franchise starring its speedy blue hero. Running, jumping and learning the terrain connect adventures that range from side-scrolling courses to 3D stages and open islands, with different entries giving speed and exploration their own balance.

Nintendo SwitchAI review
AI reviews are subjective assessments, not player ratings. See each review for its evidence and limitations.Published date:
A classic-stage collection for players who want a choice between repeated practice and limited-life play.
Anniversary Mode's unlimited attempts should suit players learning the stages, while Classic Mode preserves a different kind of failure pressure. Added characters and Game Gear titles may appeal to players interested in exploring more of Sonic's older adventures.
Strengths
- The two retry structures let players choose whether limited lives should shape their approach.
- Playable Amy and Knuckles in Sonic CD expand the character options within the core adventures.
Who it is for: Players drawn to pixel-art platform stages, ring-based damage protection and the chance to choose their retry rules.
Play notes: For the documented Japanese physical package, the expansion is delivered by download code and requires an internet connection to download.
