About this game

Dark Souls: Remastered takes you through Lordran's connected castles, dungeons and catacombs. Fight with weapons or spells, evade attacks with a roll, or time a parry to create a counterattack. Equipment choices shape your approach, while souls spent at bonfires raise the attributes you select. Bonfires replenish health and healing supplies, but resting also returns defeated enemies to the world. Death leaves your carried souls behind; reaching the bloodstain retrieves them, while dying again first erases that chance. Exploration therefore involves deciding when to press onward, recover a loss or return to safety. This edition also includes Artorias of the Abyss.

9.0 / 10Nintendo Switch

A strong fit for players who enjoy deliberate combat and consequential recovery attempts.

Choosing equipment and deciding how to answer an attack can reward players who like refining an approach. The bloodstain rule adds a separate tension: the next expedition may be about recovering resources rather than discovering somewhere new.

Strengths

  • Build choices give players several ways to approach combat.
  • Connected exploration and bonfire decisions can make learning a route feel useful.

Weaknesses

  • Repeated deaths before recovering a bloodstain may frustrate players who dislike losing accumulated resources.

Who it is for: Players drawn to equipment experimentation, careful combat and learning dangerous routes.

Play notes: Cloud save backups are unavailable on this edition; use the game's quit menu when ending a session.
