About this game

Explore Hyrule as Link, climbing and gliding toward places you choose to investigate. Shrine puzzles bring rewards, combat can make use of terrain and tools, and preparation involves replacing worn weapons or cooking dishes that heal and boost attributes. Rain can also alter climbing routes and extinguish fire. The Nintendo Switch 2 Edition supports two save files, allowing a separate adventure alongside an existing one. It also supports voiced navigation through ZELDA NOTES in the Nintendo Switch App. That companion service requires persistent internet and a compatible smart device. The second save file created in this edition cannot be transferred back to the original Nintendo Switch version.

9.5 / 10Nintendo Switch 2

For self-directed explorers who also value a separate adventure save or companion navigation.

The shared climbing, weather and equipment systems can make exploration a sequence of practical decisions rather than simply travel between markers. This edition's separate save capacity and companion navigation may be useful to players who want to restart or add guidance without making guidance the basis of every journey.

Strengths

  • Terrain, weather and movement can give a chosen route several problems to think through.
  • Two save files can support starting another adventure while keeping an existing one.

Weaknesses

  • Players attached to using one favorite weapon throughout may find the wear-and-replacement rule less appealing.

Who it is for: Players interested in exploratory problem-solving who may also want another save file or optional smart-device navigation.

Play notes: ZELDA NOTES requires persistent internet and a compatible smart device; the second edition save file cannot be transferred to the original Nintendo Switch version.
