About this game

Old and new members of Class VII unite against a conflict threatening the continent in the final chapter of the Cold Steel saga. The story follows directly from Trails of Cold Steel III. In party battles, an AT bar shows who acts next, while positioning gives you another tactical consideration. Equip Arts to use magic, or spend CP accumulated through attacks and damage on Crafts. Linked partners add a cooperative layer to these decisions. Staggering an enemy creates a chance for a follow-up, and BP funds linked attacks; finishing with one can trigger a special conversation afterward. Giant-machine encounters change the immediate task to finding weak body sections and breaking the enemy's stance. Across these battles, turn order, partner choice and resource use accompany the continuing Class VII story.

Collected in series

Trails follows connected groups of adventurers across Zemuria, where small local jobs gradually reveal larger political conflicts. Conversations and returning characters reward attention, while party battles revolve around turn order, Crafts and magical Arts, with later games also offering field action.

8.1 / 10Nintendo Switch

A concluding chapter for players invested in Class VII and in planning attacks around a party's cooperation.

Visible turn order, CP spending and partner follow-ups can reward players who enjoy arranging a sequence rather than treating each attack in isolation. The direct continuation from III makes narrative familiarity a meaningful part of the fit.

Strengths

  • Linked follow-ups and BP expenditure give party cooperation a concrete tactical role.
  • Weak-point targeting in giant-machine encounters offers another form of attack planning.

Who it is for: Players following Class VII's story who enjoy turn-based positioning, resource decisions and linked party attacks.

Play notes: The story begins directly after Trails of Cold Steel III, so players seeking a self-contained opening may prefer to establish that context first.
