About this game

Trails into Reverie follows Rean, Lloyd and the masked C through separate routes that can be switched within a chapter. Their visits to the same place can reveal different information or scenes, while moving to the next chapter requires progressing every route. Party decisions also matter in combat: with at least five members, United Front spends the Assault Gauge on an attack, healing or arts action. Advancing the story opens the Reverie Corridor, a layered dungeon with randomly generated layouts that can be revisited during the campaign. Here, characters from different routes can join the same party. Certain strong enemies yield seal stones that unlock character episodes and minigames, connecting dungeon exploration to additional stories and activities.

Collected in series

Trails follows connected groups of adventurers across Zemuria, where small local jobs gradually reveal larger political conflicts. Conversations and returning characters reward attention, while party battles revolve around turn order, Crafts and magical Arts, with later games also offering field action.

7.8 / 10Nintendo Switch

A promising structure for players who enjoy an ensemble story and party experimentation.

Switching viewpoints could make discovering how events connect a major part of the appeal. The Corridor gives that ensemble a mechanical role through mixed parties, while its episode unlocks may make dungeon exploration especially attractive to character-focused players.

Strengths

  • Different information across routes can reward comparing perspectives rather than treating each storyline in isolation.
  • Cross-route parties and episode unlocks give the Corridor both a team-building purpose and a story incentive.

Weaknesses

  • The chapter gate may frustrate players who want to follow only their favorite protagonist.

Who it is for: Players interested in interwoven viewpoints, group combat decisions and assembling characters across story routes.

Play notes: Route-independent party formation described here applies to the Reverie Corridor.

Mandatory progress across routes creates chapter checkpoints, while the revisitable Corridor offers a separate activity between story advances.
