About this game
SteamWorld Heist: Ultimate Edition puts you in command of robot pirates boarding enemy spaceships. Battles proceed in turns, but you aim the weapons yourself: a shot can bounce off the surroundings before reaching its target. Assemble a team around your recruits' different strengths, then take them into missions with changing layouts and enemies. Crew development continues through ability and weapon upgrades. Procedurally generated levels vary the spaces in which you fight, while the included The Outsider campaign adds another set of missions to the adventure. The Switch edition also offers optional touch controls, and Steam Powered Giraffe supplies the soundtrack.
Collected in series
SteamWorld connects very different games through a world of steam-powered robots. Its branches range from underground mining and tactical shootouts to card battles and town building, each giving those mechanical characters a different kind of adventure.

Nintendo SwitchAI review
AI reviews are subjective assessments, not player ratings. See each review for its evidence and limitations.Published date:
A tactical fit for players who want their own aiming to matter.
Manual ricochets make firing angles part of the tactical problem, which should appeal to players who enjoy working out a shot themselves. Crew upgrades and changing layouts offer further decisions beyond selecting a target.
Strengths
- Crew composition and shot angles give different kinds of tactical thinking room to interact.
Weaknesses
- Players who prefer attacks resolved entirely through commands may find manual aiming an unwelcome extra demand.
Who it is for: Players interested in squad development and deliberate trick shots within turn-based battles.
