About this game
Set before the Galactic Empire, Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic puts you in charge of a customizable character and a party selected from the Ebon Hawk's crew. Travel to worlds such as Tatooine and Kashyyyk, complete quests for experience and develop your character while making decisions that affect the story, your companions and yourself. Combat lets you pause to choose commands, then queue actions to be carried out in sequence. Learning Force powers adds to the abilities available during the adventure. Alongside those combat decisions, your choices shape the direction of the story, making character development, party selection and the consequences of your actions central parts of the journey.
Collected in series
Star Wars games offer many ways to step into a galaxy of rebellion, strange worlds and the Force. Across this broad franchise, different adventures put you behind a blaster, ask you to shape a character’s loyalties or let you learn the rhythm of lightsaber combat.

A promising match for players who value party planning and consequential role-playing.
Pausing and queuing commands could appeal to players who want time to organize a fight. Choices that affect the story and squad may give character decisions weight beyond combat development.
Strengths
- Command queues offer a way to plan several actions before watching them unfold.
- Consequences for the story and squad could make role-playing decisions feel personally relevant.
Weaknesses
- Players seeking uninterrupted action may find pausing and arranging commands less appealing.
Who it is for: Players who enjoy building characters, selecting companions and considering narrative consequences.
Play notes: The Switch release is a port of the original game.
