About this game
SONIC X SHADOW GENERATIONS brings together two adventures with different approaches to movement. The remastered Sonic Generations revisits stages from earlier games through side-scrolling Classic Sonic and three-dimensional Modern Sonic play, with updated visuals and reworked cinematics. Shadow Generations follows Shadow in a separate campaign built around his own abilities. Chaos Control freezes enemies and stage mechanisms, while Doom Surf carries him over water. New powers also open up further exploration of the White Space hub, connecting progression with opportunities to investigate its surroundings. Moving through stages and learning how an ability changes the route ahead form the collection's central activities.
Collected in series
Sonic the Hedgehog is SEGA’s action franchise starring its speedy blue hero. Running, jumping and learning the terrain connect adventures that range from side-scrolling courses to 3D stages and open islands, with different entries giving speed and exploration their own balance.

Nintendo Switch 2AI review
AI reviews are subjective assessments, not player ratings. See each review for its evidence and limitations.Published date:
Contrasting Sonic styles and Shadow's traversal powers for solo movement enthusiasts.
The collection may appeal through the difference between Sonic's perspectives and Shadow's ability-driven routes. White Space's expanding access also gives new powers an exploratory purpose beyond their immediate use in a stage.
Strengths
- Chaos Control can reward thinking about the moment an obstacle should be frozen.
- Unlockable powers connect movement mastery with further hub exploration.
Weaknesses
- The mix of side-scrolling and three-dimensional play may be less appealing to someone seeking one consistent perspective.
Who it is for: Solo players who enjoy learning several movement styles within one collection.
Play notes: The separately sold Nintendo Switch version and its DLC cannot be upgraded to this version.
