About this game

Bubsy 4D sends the bobcat across alien planets to recover the Golden Fleece from robotic sheep. Traversal combines jumping with gliding, climbing walls and pouncing off enemies. Bubsy can also become a hairball to roll and bounce through the levels, giving you another way to move through their craft-themed environments. Progress brings BaaBot boss battles at the end of each planet. Hidden blueprints unlock moves and upgrades, while collected yarn buys outfits. Each level also has a time trial: you can upload a run and race against other players' ghost data. Alongside the fabric-and-craft settings, the soundtrack draws on jazz, big band and electro-swing, framing the movement and collecting as a cartoon space adventure.

7.5 / 10Nintendo Switch 2

A design to consider for players who enjoy experimenting with movement and refining platforming routes.

Gliding, climbing, pouncing and hairball movement offer different ways to think about crossing a level, which may appeal to players interested in traversal itself. Blueprint unlocks and ghost time trials add goals for those who want to explore for abilities or revisit a route to improve a run.

Strengths

  • The mix of aerial, wall and rolling movement can encourage players to experiment with how they traverse an obstacle.
  • Blueprints and ghost time trials offer distinct goals for ability hunting and route refinement.

Who it is for: Players who enjoy collecting movement upgrades, trying different traversal approaches and competing against recorded runs.

Play notes: Save data from the Nintendo Switch version cannot be used with the separate Nintendo Switch 2 version.
