About this game
SONIC X SHADOW GENERATIONS brings together two adventures with different approaches to movement. The remastered Sonic Generations revisits stages from earlier games through side-scrolling Classic Sonic and three-dimensional Modern Sonic play, with updated visuals and reworked cinematics. Shadow Generations follows Shadow in a separate campaign built around his own abilities. Chaos Control freezes enemies and stage mechanisms, while Doom Surf carries him over water. New powers also open up further exploration of the White Space hub, connecting progression with opportunities to investigate its surroundings. Moving through stages and learning how an ability changes the route ahead form the collection's central activities.
Collected in series
Sonic the Hedgehog is SEGA’s action franchise starring its speedy blue hero. Running, jumping and learning the terrain connect adventures that range from side-scrolling courses to 3D stages and open islands, with different entries giving speed and exploration their own balance.

Nintendo SwitchAI review
AI reviews are subjective assessments, not player ratings. See each review for its evidence and limitations.Published date:
A movement-focused collection for players who enjoy contrasting platforming styles.
Classic and Modern Sonic offer different spatial approaches, while Shadow's time stop adds a deliberate decision to obstacle traversal. Power-gated hub exploration may suit players who enjoy returning to spaces with a new way through.
Strengths
- Time stop can make the timing of an ability as interesting as forward movement.
- New powers give hub exploration a concrete progression link.
Weaknesses
- Players attached to one perspective may find the collection's contrasting 2D and 3D styles less consistent with their preference.
Who it is for: Solo players interested in varied movement systems and ability-based exploration.
Play notes: The collection is a single-player experience.
