About this game
Freedom Planet combines momentum-based platforming with combat as a dragon girl and her friends confront an alien attack force. Explore alternate routes, look for hidden collectibles and face large bosses. Your character changes the available approach: Lilac’s dash also attacks, Carol climbs walls, and the unlockable Milla creates cubes to throw at enemies. The mode choice changes how the stages are presented. Adventure Mode includes voiced story scenes, while Classic Mode removes those scenes to concentrate on the action. Across its pixel-art environments and layered scrolling backgrounds, the recurring task is to connect movement, route choice and each character’s attacks as you work through the stages.
Collected in series
Freedom Planet follows Lilac and her friends through fast platforming stages where distinctive movement abilities double as weapons. Momentum carries you through slopes and loops, while branching routes and boss fights give you reasons to slow down, explore and learn each heroine’s moves.

Nintendo SwitchAI review
AI reviews are subjective assessments, not player ratings. See each review for its evidence and limitations.Published date:
Well matched in design to players who want fast movement, route discovery and fighting in the same platform adventure.
Character abilities can make traversal and combat feel like connected decisions, especially when Lilac’s dash serves both purposes. Alternate routes encourage exploration, while the mode choice lets the player decide how much story framing accompanies the stages.
Strengths
- Different movement and attack abilities offer distinct ways to approach stage obstacles.
- Adventure and Classic modes accommodate different preferences for story interruptions.
Who it is for: Players who enjoy momentum-based platforming but also want enemies, bosses and character abilities to shape their route.
Play notes: Milla must be unlocked; she is not an immediately available starting choice.
