About this game

Ori sets out to save Nibel, and progress depends on learning abilities and applying them to the environment. Dash sends Ori forward over a short distance, while Light Burst lets you aim an explosive projectile. As Ori's capabilities change, exploration brings you back through previously visited areas. The Definitive Edition includes additional areas and multiple difficulty modes. Discovered Spirit Wells form a fast-travel network for returning across the forest. Hand-painted artwork and an orchestrated score accompany the journey, keeping the forest itself central to the game's presentation.

9.3 / 10Nintendo Switch

An exploration journey for players who enjoy learning movement abilities and reconsidering familiar terrain.

Ability-led progression can make navigation feel like an expanding set of possibilities rather than a sequence of destinations. Revisiting areas may reward players who like applying newly learned actions, while Spirit Well travel can make those returns more convenient.

Strengths

  • Dash and aimed projectiles offer different spatial actions to learn and apply.
  • Fast travel between discovered wells can help players revisit areas without repeating every connecting route.

Weaknesses

  • Returning through familiar areas may be less appealing to players who prefer consistently moving into new territory.

Who it is for: Players interested in movement practice, ability-based exploration and a forest presented through painted artwork and orchestral music.

Play notes: Fast travel connects discovered Spirit Wells; it is not unrestricted travel to any point on the map.
