About this game
Spelunky 2 sends explorers into the Moon's caves in search of treasure and missing family. Move through randomly generated stages, navigate traps and choose between branching routes. Passages also lead behind the main playfield, where another layer can contain treasure rooms and hidden paths. Animals can be tamed and ridden to use their special abilities. Water and lava flow through the environment and alter the playfield. Encounters with non-player characters offer another choice: help them, attack them or leave them alone. Between expeditions, Base Camp provides a safe place to practice movement and access shortcuts before returning to the caves.

Nintendo SwitchAI review
AI reviews are subjective assessments, not player ratings. See each review for its evidence and limitations.Published date:
An exploration-focused platformer for players who enjoy reading changing environments and choosing their own route.
Branching paths and background rooms can make observation as important as forward movement. Flowing liquids and rideable animals suggest an experience built around understanding interacting systems, especially for players who enjoy experimenting.
Strengths
- Alternative routes and background passages can make investigating a level a meaningful part of progress.
- Safe movement practice at Base Camp offers a useful way to rehearse before another expedition.
Weaknesses
- Randomized stages may be a poor fit for players who want every attempt to repeat an identical route.
Who it is for: Players who enjoy environmental observation, exploratory platforming and testing how creatures and terrain interact.
