About this game
Ori and the Blind Forest is a PC action game centered on movement and immediate actions, enemy and hazard responses, and stage objectives. Stages build pressure through routes, enemy patterns, and changing objectives, with progress divided into stages, tasks, matches, or growth milestones that make immediate goals understandable. Its value depends on whether these rules continue to create judgment and room for mastery rather than on length, sales, or series recognition. Short campaigns are judged by repeat-challenge value, while longer ones are judged by variety, pacing, and recovery after failure. Animation, hits, camera behavior, and readable hazards determine whether feedback remains dependable, while resolution, graphics settings, frame rate, aspect ratio, audio, text scaling, and hardware performance need to preserve action, state, and text readability together. The genre-specific limitation is that camera behavior, collision rules, input mapping, and repeated ground after failure can raise the entry barrier. Platform conditions also include OS and hardware requirements, installation media, patches, drivers, DRM and launchers, key binding and controller support, save locations, mod compatibility, servers, and era-specific OS compatibility affect the current release. This description covers only this platform release and does not import features or conveniences from remasters, emulators, or other console editions.
Collected in series
Ori is a platform-adventure series about a small spirit exploring beautiful, dangerous natural worlds. New movement abilities turn obstacles into routes, while expressive animation and music give the journey an emotional pull. Graceful exploration gives way to demanding jumps and escapes.

Beautiful movement mastery with sharp difficulty spikes.
The original PC Ori and the Blind Forest makes movement the heart of its metroidvania map. Wall jumps, double jumps and the directional Bash launch off enemies or projectiles combine into demanding, satisfying routes. A direct 2015 Windows review praises the layered light, painted forest and calming music that give difficult play emotional texture. Basic homing attacks are much less interesting than traversal. The reviewer spent roughly eight hours without full completion, with secrets inviting return trips. Creating a save in a safe location is helpful, yet timed dungeon escapes cannot be saved midway and demand repeated memorization. On the tested PC build, keyboard-and-mouse dashes sometimes felt unreliable, the keys could not be rebound, and bright effects occasionally obscured hazards; a controller was recommended. This score is for the original Windows release, not the later Definitive Edition or a console version. Players eager to master demanding movement will appreciate it more than those wanting a gentle sightseeing trip.
Strengths
- Bash traversal and visual craft make every route memorable.
Weaknesses
- Thin combat and keyboard friction hinder accessibility.
Who it is for: Players who relish precise platforming exploration.
Play notes: Original PC build; controller preferred.
