About this game

After being forced from his country, Evan sets out to establish a kingdom of his own. Guide his adventure through battles that combine weapons, magic and supporting spirits. Quests provide items and potential recruits, connecting encounters on the road with the development of his new home. Kingdom management turns those recruits into part of your wider plans. Spend kingdom funds on facilities, assign people to suitable workplaces and conduct research that enables new magic and weapon manufacture. Developing the country therefore feeds back into the adventure. Prince's Edition includes the full game and its DLC, with expansion content becoming accessible through the required story progress and conversations. Character designs by Yoshiyuki Momose and music by Joe Hisaishi frame the fantasy journey.

8.1 / 10Nintendo Switch

For players who want their fantasy adventure and their growing kingdom to support one another.

Recruitment, staffing and research could make side activities feel connected to the party's journey rather than detached from it. The combination is most promising if building up a country interests you alongside weapon-and-magic battles.

Strengths

  • Recruiting people and researching new capabilities can give kingdom development a practical connection to adventuring.
  • Weapon attacks, magic and spirit support offer several elements to consider within battles.

Weaknesses

  • Players who need individually reassigned buttons may find the fixed battle layouts restrictive.

Who it is for: Players interested in fantasy quests, party battles and a management layer whose facilities contribute to the adventure.

Play notes: Included expansion content requires its specified story progress and conversations; inclusion does not mean immediate access from a new game.

Facilities, quests and story-gated expansions suggest an adventure with several developing threads, which may appeal more than an uninterrupted sequence of battles.

Changing difficulty during play can help adjust the challenge, while fixed A/B battle layouts leave less room for tailoring individual inputs.
