About this game

Confined in Fort Joy for wielding forbidden magic, you begin by choosing an Origin protagonist with a personal history or creating your own character. Character building is classless: abilities and skills define your approach rather than a permanent profession. Origin characters bring their own questlines, while the world responds to your identity and decisions. Exploration and combat both use those character choices. Racial talents and skills offer different ways to resolve quests and puzzles, while battles take place in turns. Fire, ice, water and poison can form layered effects, making the combination of abilities part of your tactical planning. Preset classes provide an initial template if you want a starting point before shaping your own build.

9.4 / 10Nintendo Switch 2

Best considered by players who enjoy inventing builds and testing tactical solutions.

Classless development and layered elemental effects could make experimentation the main attraction rather than merely a way to increase damage. Quest solutions that use character talents extend that freedom beyond combat, rewarding an interest in how systems interact.

Strengths

  • Elemental combinations give build choices a concrete role in battle planning.
  • Talents that affect quest solutions may help a chosen character identity matter outside fights.

Weaknesses

  • Open-ended character building may feel demanding if you prefer a tightly prescribed class progression.

Who it is for: Players who enjoy turn-based decisions, unusual ability combinations and finding their own way through role-playing situations.
