About this game
Divinity: Original Sin 2 is a PC role-playing game centered on area exploration, combat and party setup, and character progression. Story beats, exploration, and progression resources support a longer campaign, with progress divided into stages, tasks, matches, or growth milestones that make immediate goals understandable. Its value depends on whether these rules continue to create judgment and room for mastery rather than on length, sales, or series recognition. Short campaigns are judged by repeat-challenge value, while longer ones are judged by variety, pacing, and recovery after failure. Characters, world building, environments, and music carry most of the atmosphere, while resolution, graphics settings, frame rate, aspect ratio, audio, text scaling, and hardware performance need to preserve action, state, and text readability together. The genre-specific limitation is that dense text, menu layers, repeated battles, loading, or language dependence can slow progress. Platform conditions also include OS and hardware requirements, installation media, patches, drivers, DRM and launchers, key binding and controller support, save locations, mod compatibility, servers, and era-specific OS compatibility affect the current release. This description covers only this platform release and does not import features or conveniences from remasters, emulators, or other console editions.

Windows PCAI review
AI reviews are subjective assessments, not player ratings. See each review for its evidence and limitations.Published date:
Exceptional systemic freedom with demanding quest tracking.
The 2017 Windows Original Sin 2 repeatedly allows unlikely plans to work. Teleportation, elemental reactions, custom skills and distinct origin characters give battles and quests meaningful alternative routes. Companion stories make the race toward divinity personal, while co-op, an Arena and Game Master tools extend play beyond one long campaign. Writing and voice work move confidently between absurd humor and grim stakes, helping a reactive world feel inhabited. The cost of so many connected possibilities is information overload: the contemporary PC review finds the journal difficult to parse when objectives cross over. Its reported test system is Windows 10 with an i5-3570K, 8 GB of RAM and GTX 970; that evidence says nothing about the protected Switch 2 edition. The assessment is deliberately bounded to the original 2017 PC build, excluding later Definitive Edition revisions.
Strengths
- Flexible combat, origin stories and cooperative creation.
Weaknesses
- Intertwined quests burden the journal and newcomers.
Who it is for: RPG players eager to read, experiment and plan.
Play notes: Only the 2017 Windows original; Switch 2 is separate.
