About this game

Follow Ramza and his childhood companion Delita against the backdrop of Ivalice's War of the Lions. You command a party in turn-based encounters, choosing positions on three-dimensional battlefields and combining jobs with learned abilities. As characters develop, more jobs become available; changing a character's role does not prevent them from using abilities already learned. The package includes Enhanced and Classic versions. Enhanced adds fully voiced dialogue and offers adjustable difficulty, battle fast-forward and a tactical view for surveying the field. Party development and battlefield decisions remain the focus: choose which roles to cultivate, then put those combinations to work through positioning and turn-based actions.

9.3 / 10Nintendo Switch 2

A promising fit for players who enjoy developing a party and thinking through its positioning.

Keeping learned abilities across job changes gives experimentation a purpose beyond selecting a new role. For players who enjoy planning, that development system and terrain-based positioning offer complementary decisions before and during combat.

Strengths

  • Abilities that survive job changes can make developing different roles feel like building a personal tactical toolkit.
  • Enhanced's tactical view and fast-forward offer ways to separate surveying a situation from watching actions unfold.

Who it is for: Players drawn to turn-based positioning, flexible character roles and a story framed by political conflict.

Play notes: The voiced dialogue, tactical view, fast-forward and difficulty options discussed here belong to the Enhanced version.
