About this game

Torna - The Golden Country follows Jin and Lora before the events of Xenoblade Chronicles 2. In battle, you directly control one team while the others act under CPU control. Team members are fixed, but their roles change: exchange the Vanguard and Rear Guard to bring another fighter forward and activate a Switch Art. Characters at the rear continue supporting the frontline. Outside combat, the Community system records relationships between people and quest status. Camp provides another part of the adventure, where characters use their crafting specialties to make pouch items with battle or field effects. A Tips section lets you revisit earlier tutorials as you learn how these systems connect.

Collected in series

Xenoblade Chronicles is a role-playing series of immense landscapes, close-knit parties and conflicts that reach beyond what its heroes first understand. You explore unfamiliar worlds and coordinate real-time battles through roles, positioning and Arts. Long journeys give the companions time to grow, while the scenery keeps suggesting another place to visit.

8.3 / 10Nintendo Switch

A coordination-focused prequel for players who enjoy learning a fixed party's changing roles.

Because switching roles also triggers an attack, deciding who leads can become part of an offensive plan. Community records and camp crafting may give players who enjoy character relationships reasons to engage with the adventure between battles.

Strengths

  • Frontline exchanges can connect character control with attack timing.
  • A visible record of people and quests can help relationship-focused players follow their involvement.

Weaknesses

  • Fixed team membership may offer less appeal to players whose main interest is freely assembling a roster.

Who it is for: Players drawn to coordinated party combat, character relationships and learning complementary roles within a fixed cast.

Play notes: The standalone package can be played without Xenoblade Chronicles 2; the Expansion Pass route is additional content for that main game.
