About this game
Valkyria Chronicles follows Welkin Gunther and Gallia's militia Squad 7 as they resist an imperial invasion. In battle, select a unit from the command map, then move it directly across the field in Action Mode. Command points govern activations, while action points limit movement; the same soldier can receive another activation. Different matchups between tanks and infantry give squad selection a practical role. Between battles, train classes and develop weapons, equipment and vehicles to prepare the unit for further fighting. CANVAS renders the battlefield like moving watercolor illustrations, and this edition includes the original game's previously released extra content.
Collected in series
Valkyria Chronicles tells squad-centered war stories through tactical RPG battles and a watercolor-like visual style. You plan from a map, then directly move and aim individual soldiers or tanks, making cover, routes and each unit’s role matter.

A tactical option for players who want to carry out their own battlefield plans directly.
Allocating activations and then moving the chosen soldier may give each plan a tangible spatial consequence. Class matchups and equipment development should particularly interest players who enjoy preparing a squad as well as commanding it.
Strengths

- The watercolor treatment may appeal to players who prefer illustrated battlefields.
Weaknesses
- The alternation between map commands and limited movement may interrupt the flow for players seeking continuous action.
