About this game

Travel through Liberl with junior bracers Estelle and Joshua in this remake of the first Trails in the Sky chapter. Take on guild quests, develop characters with quartz and use both real-time attacks and turn-based commands. Positioning and the recovery after powerful abilities are part of combat planning; the Bracer Notebook records quests and important story events. The Nintendo Switch 2 Edition retains the original game's in-game content. Owners upgrading an existing Nintendo Switch copy need the paid Upgrade Pack in addition to the base game; that pack does not work as a standalone game.

Collected in series

Trails follows connected groups of adventurers across Zemuria, where small local jobs gradually reveal larger political conflicts. Conversations and returning characters reward attention, while party battles revolve around turn order, Crafts and magical Arts, with later games also offering field action.

8.3 / 10Nintendo Switch 2

A possible match for players who want a character-led journey with both action and tactical planning.

Quartz preparation and positional commands may give players reasons to think beyond the next attack, while Quick Battles provide a contrasting form of interaction. For players interested in guild work and a developing partnership, the bracer setup offers a clear reason to explore Liberl.

Strengths

  • Quartz-based statistics and Arts may make preparation feel connected to decisions made in combat.
  • The notebook's automatic quest records can support players who like following guild assignments alongside the story.

Weaknesses

  • Players who prefer immediate action throughout may find turn order, positioning and ability recovery more deliberative than they want.

Who it is for: Players who enjoy preparing RPG characters and alternating action inputs with turn-based decisions.

Play notes: The paid Upgrade Pack for an existing Nintendo Switch copy requires the base game; it is not a standalone game.
