About this game
Van Arkride works outside conventional institutions, taking requests as an investigator, negotiator or bounty hunter. His adventure unfolds in the culturally diverse Calvard Republic. Players follow required story events and quests while also finding optional jobs, bringing client work and combat into the same journey. When an encounter begins, field fighting can transition into command battles. There, select attacks, Crafts, Arts or items to direct the party's actions. Nearby allies can contribute follow-up attacks, so where companions stand matters as well as which action you choose. The game combines active field encounters with command-based decisions, while its required and optional quest markers distinguish the next story objective from work you can pursue alongside it.
Collected in series
Trails follows connected groups of adventurers across Zemuria, where small local jobs gradually reveal larger political conflicts. Conversations and returning characters reward attention, while party battles revolve around turn order, Crafts and magical Arts, with later games also offering field action.

A promising fit for RPG players who enjoy client-driven stories and tactical party decisions.
Moving from field fighting to command choices should appeal to players who like encounters to offer different forms of participation. Van's client work and the distinction between required and optional jobs give the story a practical framework, while ally proximity adds a reason to consider party placement.
Strengths
