About this game

Lloyd Bannings joins Crossbell's police force and is assigned to the Special Support Section. Its work begins with odd jobs and requests from people in need, then draws the team into the city's criminal corruption. You follow this investigation while directing the party in battles governed by a visible action order. Preparation and timing shape your combat options. Installing quartz in an orbment changes the Arts a character can cast, and those spells take time to activate. Character-specific Crafts spend Craft Points, with additional techniques learned as levels rise. S-Crafts can interrupt the usual turn sequence, giving you another decision about when to commit a special attack.

Collected in series

Trails follows connected groups of adventurers across Zemuria, where small local jobs gradually reveal larger political conflicts. Conversations and returning characters reward attention, while party battles revolve around turn order, Crafts and magical Arts, with later games also offering field action.

8.2 / 10Nintendo Switch

A promising fit for players who want civic investigations alongside deliberate party tactics.

Quartz configuration and interrupting S-Crafts offer different ways to influence a battle before and during each turn. The team's progression from minor requests into corruption should appeal especially to readers who enjoy a local investigation growing in scope.

Strengths

  • Changing available Arts through quartz gives party preparation a concrete tactical role.
  • S-Crafts offer an intervention when waiting for the next ordinary turn would be undesirable.

Who it is for: Players who enjoy configuring a party and following police work into a larger criminal story.
