About this game

Rune Factory 5 follows an amnesiac newcomer who joins SEED, the organization protecting Rigbarth. Outside town, you fight monsters with weapons and spells, bringing townsfolk along to perform Link Attacks. Your adventures share space with a farming life: crops grow on the backs of dragons, and tamed monsters can help tend the farm. Back in town, fishing, seasonal festivals and relationships provide other paths to follow. Marriage candidates have their own stories, with relationships able to develop into marriage and family life. The game brings these pursuits together, so progress can mean continuing an adventure, raising crops or getting to know someone better. Difficulty adjustment is also available through Eliza.

6.9 / 10Nintendo Switch

Best suited to players who want farming, relationships and action to share the same adventure.

Townsfolk who join battles and monsters who help on the farm give social life and adventure points of contact. That mixture may be especially rewarding for players who like alternating between combat goals and ongoing personal projects.

Strengths

  • Companion attacks and monster farmhands can make the town and wilderness feel connected.
  • Farming, festivals and relationship stories offer different kinds of goals to pursue alongside combat.

Who it is for: Players interested in building a fictional daily life while also developing relationships and fighting monsters.
