About this game
Resident Evil Revelations 2 is an episodic survival-horror adventure. Claire Redfield and Moira Burton are abducted and imprisoned in an abandoned island facility. Responding to his daughter’s distress call, Barry begins a search and meets Natalia, a young girl with mysterious abilities. The story follows Claire’s and Barry’s sides of the crisis as they seek escape and answers under an unseen observer. Four core episodes each contain both perspectives. Raid Mode provides additional missions, while bonus content and extras differ between release packages rather than belonging automatically to every edition.
Collected in series
Resident Evil follows people trying to survive biological disasters, combining dangerous exploration, puzzles and encounters with hostile creatures. Each game finds a different balance between fear and action, with fixed, over-the-shoulder and first-person perspectives changing how you face the danger.

Resident Evil Revelations 2
Useful partner roles are limited by linear exploration and dated PS3 feedback problems.
Revelations 2 is most interesting when a partner becomes an ability the player can actively use. Natalia can reveal enemies Barry cannot detect, turning a character switch into a useful link between observation and action. Similar cooperation helps with mechanisms. Four chapters and Raid missions give repeat play a purpose, but the campaign’s exploration remains largely linear, and similar rooms and repeated encounters reduce novelty. The identified PS3 test also records partners left behind, obscuring red fog when injured, and unreliable dodging and shooting feedback. Choppy performance and lengthy loading further interrupt the flow. A later patch shortened some waits without establishing that every problem was resolved. It suits players interested in dual-character cooperation and familiar personalities who accept those dated technical limits. Deep exploration or consistently smooth action requires more cautious expectations.
Strengths
- Character switching connects observation with action
- Raid missions extend goals beyond the story
Weaknesses
- Limited exploration and encounter variety
- Navigation and feedback problems in dated tests
Who it is for: Players interested in partner roles and familiar characters who accept the version’s documented limits.
Play notes: Independent judgment from official information and Ben Burnham’s April 5, 2015 PS3 test, not our own playtest. Model, patch and hours are incompletely disclosed. One patch partly improved loading; this establishes no complete current fix, networking status or frame-rate guarantee.

| Dimension | Review state | Score | Weight |
|---|---|---|---|
| Dimension Four chapters show the island through two teams, while Raid missions add progression outside the campaign. Replay goals exist, but linear routes and limited exploration reduce variety. | Reviewed | 7.7 / 10 | 0.25 |
| Dimension Partners divide combat, perception and puzzle roles, making character switching useful for progress. The idea has value, though AI behaviour and repeated fighting can interrupt its rhythm. | Reviewed | 7.6 / 10 | 0.4 |
| Dimension Familiar characters and cinematic sequences support the island story, but the PS3 account finds similar-looking rooms and uneven dialogue and narrative choices. Nostalgia has appeal without giving every area or scene distinction. | Reviewed | 6.6 / 10 | 0.2 |
| Dimension The PS3 test records obscuring red health fog, unreliable partner following and dodging, plus choppy play and long loads. A patch shortened some loading, with its exact build unspecified; it did not establish a complete fix. | Reviewed | 6.0 / 10 | 0.15 |
