About this game

Claire and Moira awaken in an abandoned detention facility, while Barry searches the same island alongside Natalia. The campaign follows these connected partnerships through a survival-horror story. In solo play, you switch characters to use their different abilities: Moira's flashlight reveals hidden supplies, and Natalia detects enemies and their weak spots. The campaign also supports local split-screen cooperation, letting another player take the partner role. Away from the story, Raid Mode concentrates on combat missions, with mission-clear medallions opening further challenges. The Switch release includes motion-controlled aiming, providing another way to direct your weapons while working through the island's dangers.

Collected in series

Resident Evil follows people trying to survive biological disasters, combining dangerous exploration, puzzles and encounters with hostile creatures. Each game finds a different balance between fear and action, with fixed, over-the-shoulder and first-person perspectives changing how you face the danger.

7.9 / 10Nintendo Switch

A promising fit for horror players who enjoy complementary partner roles.

Switching between combat and detection abilities can make observation matter alongside aiming. The separate Raid progression should also appeal to players who want combat objectives beyond the unfolding story.

Strengths

  • Distinct partner abilities can give cooperation a meaningful division of attention.
  • Mission unlocks give Raid play a concrete progression goal.

Who it is for: Players interested in coordinating different abilities or alternating story exploration with combat missions.

Play notes: The campaign cooperation described here is local split-screen play.
