About this game
Pokémon Shining Pearl takes you across Sinnoh to build a team and challenge the Pokémon League. Weaken wild Pokémon before throwing Poké Balls, then raise your partners through battles to gain levels and learn moves. In combat, choose attacks and switches with type weaknesses and resistances in mind. Gym Badges mark the path toward challenging the League and becoming Champion. The Grand Underground adds another strand to the journey. Use the Explorer Kit to go below ground, dig for fossils, and seek Pokémon in hideaways with different environments. Super Contest Shows offer rhythm-based performances with a partner instead of another battle. After visiting Amity Square, you can also bring one Pokémon along beside you through towns and routes.
Collected in series
Pokémon is a role-playing series that began in 1996. As a Trainer, you travel the world meeting, catching and raising Pokémon. Filling your Pokédex, building a team and taking on rivals shape the adventure, while trading with friends brings new partners along for the journey.

Nintendo SwitchAI review
AI reviews are subjective assessments, not player ratings. See each review for its evidence and limitations.Published date:
A fit for players who enjoy building a team around a clear journey, with collecting and performances along the way.
Turn-based move choices and type interactions put the emphasis on team preparation and decisions rather than reflexes. Gym progression supplies direction, while underground exploration and contests offer other goals when battling is not the immediate priority.
Strengths
- Catching and raising partners feeds directly into the options available in battle.
- Fossil digging, hideaway exploration and rhythm performances provide distinct activities alongside Gym progression.
Who it is for: Players who enjoy developing a Pokémon team, considering matchups and taking collecting detours between major battles.
Play notes: Some wild encounters differ from Pokémon Brilliant Diamond; the two versions do not offer an identical selection.
