About this game

Pokémon Brilliant Diamond sends you across Sinnoh to catch Pokémon, raise them for battle and work toward completing the Pokédex. Defeating Gym Leaders earns the badges needed to enter the Pokémon League. Your travels take place in a region shaped by natural landscapes, with Mount Coronet at its center. Below the surface, the Grand Underground adds another place to search for Pokémon. Its hideaways contain different species according to their environments, and the available encounters expand as the adventure progresses. You can also dig into walls to uncover Pokémon Fossils. Back on your travels, the Pokétch's Hidden Moves app calls wild Pokémon to clear obstacles such as blocking trees or steep cliffs.

Collected in series

Pokémon is a role-playing series that began in 1996. As a Trainer, you travel the world meeting, catching and raising Pokémon. Filling your Pokédex, building a team and taking on rivals shape the adventure, while trading with friends brings new partners along for the journey.

7.9 / 10Nintendo Switch

Suited to players who want a clear battle goal with room for collecting detours.

The badge route gives raising Pokémon a concrete destination, while underground habitats offer reasons to explore beyond the next Gym. Expanding encounters can make later visits appealing to collectors, though the full underground selection is not available immediately.

Strengths

  • Gym progression and Pokédex completion provide complementary battle and collection goals.
  • Habitat differences and fossil excavation give underground exploration distinct activities.

Who it is for: Players who enjoy building a Pokémon collection while working toward structured battle milestones.

Play notes: Underground encounters change with progress, so an early visit does not offer every Pokémon found there.
