About this game

Pac-Man sets out to recover the Golden Fruit stolen by the ghosts. You move through platforming stages using running, chomping and butt-bouncing, with the remake adding Super Butt Bounce to his actions. The journey also changes what you control: skate through Snowy Mountain, then take aim from the PAC-Marine in ocean stages. Time Trial mode gives stage completion a separate record-chasing objective through leaderboards. For local cooperative play, another player takes the Pac-Drone role, collecting items and attacking enemies to help Pac-Man through the adventure. Each player needs a controller. This rebuilt version of Pac-Man World 2 also includes main-character voice acting and adjustable difficulty.

A good conceptual fit for players who enjoy platforming with changing stage activities and a helper partner.

Skating and submarine aiming could make the adventure appealing to players who like changes of activity within a platformer. Time trials offer a different goal for record seekers, while Pac-Drone cooperation favors helping one central adventurer rather than playing matching roles.

Strengths

  • The switch between platforming, skating and submarine action could suit players who value variety in what they control.
  • A partner's ability to collect items and attack could make cooperation useful without assigning both players the same task.

Weaknesses

  • Players wanting equal platforming roles may find the Pac-Man and helper-drone arrangement less satisfying.

Who it is for: Players interested in a mascot platformer with varied stage actions, optional record chasing or local helper cooperation.

Play notes: Cooperative play is offline and needs a controller for each player; the second player controls Pac-Drone.
