About this game
OCTOPATH TRAVELER II begins with your choice of eight travelers, each with a different background and reason to set out. Their Path Actions let you do more than talk to townspeople: obtain belongings or bring someone along, with different interactions available by day and night. You can switch the time of day yourself. Crossed Paths stories also connect companions encountered on the journey. In command-based battles, exploit weaknesses to Break enemies and use Boost to strengthen actions. Adding a battle job alongside a traveler's original occupation expands how you combine jobs and abilities. Pixel characters and 3D scenery form the game's HD-2D presentation, carrying that journey between towns, conversations and battles.
Collected in series
Octopath Traveler pairs HD-2D landscapes with personal journeys and turn-based battles built around enemy weaknesses and well-timed boosts. Meeting townspeople, choosing your route and assembling a party give those journeys their own rhythm.

Nintendo SwitchAI review
AI reviews are subjective assessments, not player ratings. See each review for its evidence and limitations.Published date:
A strong conceptual fit for players who enjoy experimenting with party roles and town interactions.
Additional jobs and Break/Boost give a tactically curious player several ways to reconsider a battle plan. Daytime and nighttime Path Actions carry that experimental mindset into towns, where changing the time can be as relevant as changing the traveler you use.
Strengths
- Additional battle jobs create room to explore combinations instead of treating each traveler's original occupation as the whole build.
- Day and night give town visits another set of interactions to investigate.
Weaknesses
- Players who want to move straight through towns may find checking both sets of Path Actions a distraction from their preferred pace.
Who it is for: Players who like command-based combat, experimenting with character roles and following several travelers' stories.
Play notes: This is the Nintendo Switch edition; its save data is not compatible with the separate Nintendo Switch 2 edition.
