About this game

R-Type Tactics I • II Cosmos rebuilds two tactical games and adds new missions. Before deploying, develop units and combine their abilities into a fleet. Once battle begins, take turns scouting for enemies, arranging your forces and deciding when to resupply. Concealing troops in blind spots and using electronic warfare are part of the tactical toolkit. Missions take your fleet through outer space and inside space fortresses, with the commander's logbook carrying the story forward. Multiple campaigns include fighting against the Bydo Empire and commanding its forces yourself. This Nintendo Switch 2 Edition also supports mouse controls for players who prefer that input method.

7.7 / 10Nintendo Switch 2

For tacticians who enjoy making fleet composition and battlefield logistics work together.

Developing units before battle gives scouting, resupply and positioning a larger planning context. Players who enjoy revising a plan as enemy information emerges may find more to engage with here than those seeking immediate shooting action.

Strengths

  • Combining unit abilities gives fleet preparation a direct connection to battlefield decisions.
  • Blind spots and electronic warfare add information-related choices alongside deployment.

Weaknesses

  • The combination of fleet preparation and turn-based logistics may feel demanding if you prefer to reach the action with little planning.

Who it is for: Players interested in unit roles, reconnaissance and supply decisions within a science-fiction campaign.
