About this game
Zidane's theater troupe abducts Princess Garnet, only to discover that she wanted to leave her castle. Their journey leads into an RPG whose battles use Active Time Battle. Character development depends partly on equipment: items teach abilities, and mastered abilities remain available after the associated equipment is removed. Synthesis offers another use for your inventory by combining items into stronger ones. Taking hits also builds a Trance gauge, granting new skills when it fills. Away from battles, you can pursue activities such as Chocobo Hot and Cold, jump rope and a card game. This edition includes autosave, higher-resolution character models and movies, plus optional high-speed and no-encounter boosters for adjusting the journey's flow.

Nintendo SwitchAI review
AI reviews are subjective assessments, not player ratings. See each review for its evidence and limitations.Published date:
An appealing structure for RPG players who enjoy making equipment choices serve long-term character development.
Learning abilities from gear could make inventory decisions matter beyond an item's immediate use. Trance adds a further battle variable, while optional boosters offer a different way to approach the journey.
Strengths
- Keeping mastered abilities gives equipment-based learning a lasting payoff.
- Synthesis could make existing inventory feel more useful by turning it into stronger items.
Weaknesses
- Tying unmastered abilities to equipment may feel restrictive if you prefer skill access to remain separate from gear.
Who it is for: Players interested in character development through equipment, time-driven battles and optional activities between story developments.
Play notes: The high-speed and no-encounter boosters alter the normal tempo and encounter flow when enabled.
