About this game
Cloud is a mercenary helping Avalanche resist Shinra, the company controlling the world's Mako energy. FINAL FANTASY VII follows that conflict through the original game's story, with battles built around the Active Time Battle system. Equip Materia to change the capabilities available to your characters, including spells, summons and special commands. A filled Limit gauge also opens access to a character's Limit Break attack. This port retains the original game's 3D graphics and CG movie sequences. It adds optional ways to adjust play: increase game speed, disable field encounters or enable battle enhancement to keep HP and MP at maximum. These options let you decide how much of the encounter and resource-management process to retain while following Cloud's journey.

A fit for players who enjoy planning character abilities and choosing how much battle management to retain.
Materia makes equipment preparation a way to shape a character's available actions, offering a clear hook for players who like experimenting with party capabilities. Optional encounter and battle aids can support a story-focused approach, although enabling them changes the pressure behind those decisions.
Strengths
- Materia offers concrete choices about which magical and special capabilities to equip.
- Optional speed and battle aids give different priorities room within the same adventure.
Who it is for: Players interested in ability combinations, command-driven battles and the original game's visual style.
Play notes: This entry covers the original-game port; battle enhancement keeps HP and MP at maximum.
