About this game
Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes is an ensemble role-playing adventure set in Allraan. Conflict draws Nowa, Seign and other characters into intersecting paths as the player gathers companions from different backgrounds. Recruitment expands both the cast of the story and the options available when assembling a party. Turn-based combat centres on a six-person formation, with character abilities and positioning shaping decisions. Army battles, duels and minigames interrupt the expedition, while headquarters development connects newly recruited allies with the results of earlier adventures. Visiting towns, finding potential companions and following the main conflict provide the rhythm of a lengthy journey.
Collected in series
Eiyuden Chronicle builds its fantasy adventures around the people who join you and the home you develop together. Its main RPG combines companion recruitment with turn-based battles, while the Rising prequel approaches the same world through action and town rebuilding.

Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes
Recruitment makes a generous ensemble adventure, while slow growth and Switch menu delays test the patience it asks players to invest.
A large cast becomes meaningful when a new companion changes the options in the next battle, rather than merely increasing a collection counter. Fixed character identities and a six-person formation give recruitment that practical value. The attraction is the connection between meeting people, reconsidering a lineup and seeing the headquarters grow around the journey. The cost is time. A slow opening and gradual character development can make the size of the cast feel like a burden before it becomes a strength, while familiar battles risk settling into routine. Clear visual organisation and the mixture of sprites and scenery help the adventure remain inviting. On Switch, however, the later inspected review still describes noticeable loading and delayed menu transitions. The July2024 optimisation announcement is therefore relevant context, rather than proof that every interruption disappeared. This is for players willing to settle into a long ensemble RPG and tolerate friction along the way.
Strengths
- Recruitment changes party choices and gives the long journey a tangible shared goal.
Weaknesses
- Slow early development and observed Switch loading/menu interruptions weaken the rhythm.
Who it is for: Players interested in a long ensemble RPG and experimenting with many companions.
