About this game
The hero recruits companions at Luida’s tavern and can register new adventurers, making party roles part of the preparation. Classes differ in their combat strengths and spells, so your lineup affects the commands available in an encounter. Travel connects battles with towns where you gather information, buy equipment and rest at inns. In battle, choose attacks, spells, items or defense for the party. Adventure logs retain progress. This account follows the original Famicom game, without adding the personality or vocation systems of later remakes.
Collected in series
Dragon Quest builds fantasy journeys around visiting towns, exploring dungeons and growing stronger through battles. Its mainline adventures are known for turn-based decisions and heroic quests, while spin-offs take the same world of monsters and magic into other kinds of play.
