About this game
Dicey Dungeons puts you in the role of a walking die exploring a procedurally generated dungeon. In combat, you place rolled dice into equipment to activate its effects. Fighting monsters, finding equipment and gaining levels build your character during the adventure, while each new roll changes what you have available to work with. Character choice changes the rules behind that process. The Robot generates dice through a blackjack-like gamble, while the Inventor breaks equipment after fights to create gadgets. Their abilities give different purposes to the equipment you collect and the risks you take. Progress therefore involves learning a character's rules as well as adapting your equipment choices to the dungeon.

Nintendo SwitchAI review
AI reviews are subjective assessments, not player ratings. See each review for its evidence and limitations.Published date:
A good conceptual fit for players who enjoy making useful plans from imperfect rolls.
Allocating dice to equipment suggests a recurring puzzle about what to do with the resources actually available. Character rules change that puzzle substantially, so the appeal depends on enjoying adaptation as much as assembling a preferred loadout.
Strengths
- The Robot and Inventor give risk-taking and equipment replacement different strategic purposes.
- Changing dungeons and newly acquired equipment provide reasons to reconsider an established plan.
Weaknesses
- Players who want to preserve a favorite setup may dislike the Inventor's required equipment destruction.
Who it is for: Players who enjoy equipment combinations and can treat an awkward roll as a problem to solve.
