About this game

CRISIS CORE -FINAL FANTASY VII- REUNION revisits Zack Fair's story before FINAL FANTASY VII. You control Zack directly in battle, combining sword attacks with the spells and abilities supplied by equipped materia. During certain enemy attacks, striking the charging opponent reduces a special gauge; empty it before the attack launches and you can stop it altogether. The D.M.W. runs alongside these decisions, automatically spinning reels that can change your combat conditions or make a Limit Break available. Outside the main scenario, missions unlock through story progress and other conditions, awarding materia and items on completion. This remaster also replaces the original 3D models and adds full voice acting.

Collected in series

Final Fantasy is a role-playing series created by Square in 1987, built around fantastical journeys, memorable characters and growing stronger together. Most numbered entries introduce their own world and cast. From crystals and magic to cities where machinery meets fantasy, each adventure offers a different view.

7.7 / 10Nintendo Switch

A promising fit for action-RPG players who enjoy planned loadouts with an unpredictable battle layer.

Materia selection and interruptible enemy attacks suggest room for preparation and timely aggression. The automatic D.M.W. adds opportunities to adapt your plans around, making this a more natural fit for players comfortable with unpredictable bonuses.

Strengths

  • Materia abilities and enemy attack gauges give preparation and immediate combat decisions distinct roles.
  • Separate missions offer a reason to revisit your loadout through new materia and item rewards.

Weaknesses

  • Players seeking complete control over combat bonuses may find the automatic D.M.W. results less satisfying.

Who it is for: Players interested in Zack's earlier story who also enjoy choosing abilities before testing them in direct combat.
