About this game

Big Brain Academy: Brain vs. Brain turns picture recognition, memory, analysis, calculation and visual reasoning into activities. Identify an animal as its picture becomes clearer, remember information or connect railway tracks. Practise individual activities in Solo Mode, then take a test that reports your in-game Big Brain Brawn. Outfits can also be unlocked for your avatar. Local competition lets each participant choose a different difficulty. Play touch-screen battles with a partner, or use a Joy-Con each for matches with up to four players. Ghost battles use recorded performances, so opponents need not be playing simultaneously. Accessing worldwide ghost data online requires a paid Nintendo Switch Online membership.

7.5 / 10Nintendo Switch

A shared puzzle competition suited to groups with different experience levels.

Individual difficulty settings can make local competition easier to organise around a mixed group. Solo practice and recorded opponents offer ways to revisit the activities when everyone cannot play together.

Strengths

  • Separate difficulty choices let a group adjust challenges to its participants.
  • Practice and ghost battles provide distinct reasons to return to familiar activity types.

Who it is for: Families and friends interested in comparing responses to picture, memory and calculation tasks, with room for individual practice.

Play notes: Handheld play supports up to two players; local groups of up to four use TV or tabletop mode. Worldwide ghost data requires paid Nintendo Switch Online membership.
